After a year of canceled events and relatively no physical interaction, Sonora’s homecoming football game was back. An overwhelming amount of students filled the student section, eager to watch the Raiders take down Troy’s Trojans. With everyone wearing Disney-themed outfits and bright purple and gold shirts, the student section was ready to invigorate the team’s spirit.

“There were a lot of energetic students in the crowd. I think it helped with the overall mood and spirit of the game. It was great to see all the students even interact with cheer,” said ASB member Jennifer Jung.

Three minutes into the game — so much of a surprise — Troy scores their first touchdown. Reaching the second quarter, Troy continues their dominance on the field, making the game 28 to 0. In an attempt at recovery, Landon Martin (12) makes a complete pass to Olin Morales (24) for the first Sonora touchdown! A tumultuous sound comes from the Sonora student section as the students get riled up in Sonora’s revival.

“The students were having so much fun in the crowd, and it was really good to see. Even I got excited watching the student section support the team,” said Ashley Lee, a member of the Sonora dance drill team.

Although the excitement was immense, it was only temporary as Troy continuously racked up points by scoring three more touchdowns in the second half. The final score of the game was 50-14, constituting Troy’s victory. Even with Troy’s terrific win, the Sonora football team arduously contended and showed their tenacity throughout the game. The Raiders hope to continue their vitality in the remaining league games. Let’s go Raiders!
